It’s Christmas!

Christmas preparations are well underway across all our businesses. It’s such a wonderful time of the year in North Norfolk; I really think you can’t beat those sunny, crisp winter days on the coast.

Our three-night Christmas package at Titchwell Manor is probably our most popular break. There’s always such a wonderful buzz around the hotel as guests enjoy stress-free time with us. We do things quite simply: it’s all about great food and drink, friendly service, and beautiful surroundings. Guests come to relax and let us do the Christmas chores – and that’s how we like it. They arrive on Christmas Eve to warm mince pies, mulled wine, and carol singers, then after a refresh sit down to a four-course dinner in the Conservatory. Our beautiful breakfast becomes something really festive on Christmas Day with Champagne and some indulgent specials featuring English caviar. Caviar and Champagne… that’s the way to start your day! Lunch is of course all the classics, with alternatives for non-turkey eaters, and in the evening we lay out a fabulous buffet with Ronaldo, our assistant manager, leading an unforgettable fine wine tasting. On Boxing Day guests head off to explore the local area and enjoy the beaches, then come back for an à la carte dinner in the evening. Perfect.

Christmas has always been magical at Titchwell Manor, and it makes me so happy that many guests have had such a good time that they book immediately for the following Christmas.

At the other restaurants we close on Christmas Day to give the team a bit of a break before the busy period between Christmas and New Year. Look out for some great specials during this time. The battered pigs in blankets are my favourite, and – believe me – the wood-fired sprouts at Eric’s Pizza are not to be missed!

A huge amount of work goes into preparing for this time of the year, not least in the decorating. My wife Lydia takes the lead across all five sites, and she’s brilliant at it, working with a small team of helpers. Our Holt fish & chips shop is a small Edwardian building so the decorating isn’t too complicated, but we do love being part of Holt which looks so beautiful at this time of year – they really push the boat out with the Christmas lights and decorations. It’s a stunning market town with a fantastic community spirit, and the perfect place to feel the true spirit of Christmas (and get some Christmas shopping done). Do go if you can!

Welcome, Caroline!

On a different note, I’d like to introduce Caroline Southard who has joined as our Group Marketing Manager. It’s particularly exciting as this is a position we haven’t had before, but Caroline brings a wealth of experience that will be a great asset to the business. Like most small hotels and restaurants, marketing has traditionally been done either by the management team or by bringing in external support, but I am sure having Caroline looking after it full-time will make a huge difference. It’s great to have you on board, Caroline!
